OAT SLICE with Quinoa

Prep: 10 mins
Cooking time: 20 mins (plus cooling time in tray)
(Nut free and egg free)

Recipe Information:


1 cup of rolled oats
1 cup Quinoa flakes
¾ cup of brown sugar
1 cup of natural coconut
1 cup of flour (LTL used organic rye flour)
200g butter
2 tablespoons golden syrup
2 tablespoons of cacao nibs


  1. Mix together dry ingredients
  2. Melt butter, add syrup (NB. You can add a teaspoon of bi-carb soda here. LTL actually forgot to add this in one version of the Oat Slice turned out delicious without it.)
  3. Stir butter and syrup mix into dry ingredients until combined
  4. Press into a greased tray using the back of a spoon (about 1.5cm thick)
  5. Sprinkle cacao nibs over top of slice and press in slightly
  6. Bake at 180 degrees celsius for 15-20 minutes or until golden
  7. Cut while hot and leave to cool in the tray.
