Recipe Information:


½ cup organic rye flour
½ cup SR flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon cacao powder

1 cup organic desiccated coconut
1 cup All-bran wheat flakes
100g butter
¾ cup brown sugar
3 heaped tablespoons golden syrup



  • Oven 180 degrees celsius
  • Sift flours, cacao and baking powder
  • Mix in coconut, brown sugar and crush wheat flakes before adding to dry ingredients
  • Melt butter and golden syrup over low heat
  • Pour melted ingredients into dry ingredients and mix together
  • Press down in a greased and lined slice tray
  • Bake for 30 minutes
  • Cool in tray and ice with chocolate icing and sprinkle with coconut and then cut into squares
  • Chocolate icing – sift 2 cups icing sugar and 1 tablespoon cacao powder, mix with 1 teaspoon butter and approximately 3 tablespoons of boiling water.
