LTL STAR-BICS - Savoury Cheese Biscuits

LTL STAR-BICS - Savoury Cheese Biscuits

(Nut free and egg free)


Recipe Information:1 cup grated tasty cheese
1/2 freshly grated romano cheese (or hard dairy cheese like parmesan)
4 tablespoons Nuttelex butter
1/2 cup plain flour
1/4 cup organic rye flour (or wholemeal flour)
1/4 teaspoon sweet paprika


Method:• Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius.
• Place all ingredients into a food processor.
• Process until the dough forms a ball - about 2 minutes. (This took longer than I expected be patient it will happen.)
• Line a baking tray with baking paper and lightly spray with olive oil.
• Sprinkle some plain flour on to another piece of baking paper and dust your rolling pin and roll out dough to about 1 cm in thickness. (This first batch photographed here were about 1.5cm thick. My chief taste tester (aka Master Five) informed me that he really liked the super crunchy star-bics so thickness will depend on your/your child’s tastes.)
• Cut out biscuits using a small bite-size biscuit cutter and transfer biscuits to baking tray as you cut.
• NOTE: I rolled the remaining biscuit dough into a ball, wrapped it in plastic wrap and put it in the freezer for another time.
• Bake star-bics in oven for 15 minutes until slightly golden.
• Remove from oven and either cool on tray or transfer to wire rack. (I actually left these star-bics to cool completely on the tray and this worked well.)
